Vacation Eating

The problem with vacation eating is that you make travel eating an exception to the rule. You might end up drinking and eating far more than you do at home since there’s food at the airport, on the airplane, and in your hotel room.  The best way to continue to lose (or maintain) weight when on vacation is to continue eating the way you did before the trip. Treat every restaurant as an extension of your own kitchen with someone else doing the prep work and washing the dishes. At the end of your trip you’ll come home fitting into those white jeans and still have a nice time.

    Hello Caryl,

You hit the nail on the head with your posting on vacation eating, and I am grateful for the reminder. When I travel, I’ve noticed that as soon as I leave my front door the mindset that I’m going on vacation so I can break the rules begins turning its wheels. By the time I get to the airport, I’m already contemplating the possibilities, the extra special treats without limitations…because that’s was vacations are for! So my pea-brain tells me.

I am grateful for the reminder and the way you present the healthier way for the pea-brain to think: All eating outside my front door is simply an extension of my healthy home-eating habits.

Thank you so much! What would I do without your great insight and expertise!

    Hi Caryl

    Caryl

I loved reading your blog about vacation eating–since I just returned from Sicily. There was so much fabulous food thrown at me during the trip, I found it challenging to limit the number of items per meal. However, I often took one taste of something and left it at that, even if it was delicious. I was always aware of not over doing it and not leaving the table too stuffed to move. I just stopped eating when I’d had enough. The reward is that I can still zip my pants, and none of my clothes are tight on me.

    Linda
